Designing Scenarios for Integrated and Sustainable E-Waste Management: Case of Indonesia

Poorly managed e-waste can lead to public health and environmental problems resulting from the leakage of toxic substances. Building upon integrated management (IEWM) concept, this study aims propose an sustainable strategy. It also suggests alternative processes for effective collection, treatment, disposal e-waste. In its first stage system dynamics modeling, employed approach comprising interviews Causal Loop Diagram (CLD). Based on stakeholders’ collaboration resource management, two scenarios have been proposed: 1) integration community collection; 2) scavengers as collection agents. Both implemented by means public–private partnership (PPP) with industries. Interrelating factors such governance, physical system, sustainability aspects analyzed. The proposed benefit municipal government in terms improving existing channels and, therefore, facilitating a better system. They ensure related stakeholders recycling, manufacturing, smelter industry processes, etc., together strengthening relationship between informal sector.
